Celebrating Astor Piazzolla’s 100th birthday with Residentie Orchestra

Together with star bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof and the Residentie Orchestra The Hague we celebrated the birthday of Argentina’s most beloved composer with a concert at Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht for AVROTROS Radio.

An exciting program with works by Piazzolla, Bartok, Gershwin, Skalkottas as well as the ‘Adagiëtto’ from the 5th symphony by Gustav Mahler, which we dedicated to my mentor Bernard Haitink, who passed away on 21 October. Photo @ Foppe Schut
