Vincent de Kort passionately believes that music has the power to change lives, to inspire and to bring people together. Through his dynamic presence on the podium and his tireless advocacy for arts education, he has introduced classical music to new audiences around the world.
Born in the Netherlands, he is high in demand as a guest conductor with some of the world’s leading orchestras and opera houses, among them the Royal Swedish Opera, Semperoper Dresden, Mariinsky Theatre, Bolshoi Theatre, Scottish Opera, New National Theatre Tokyo, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Staatskapelle Dresden, New Japan Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestre Métropolitain de Montreal, Sinfonia Varsovia, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Residentie Orchestra.
Developed a reputation as one of the finest Mozart conductors and has been widely respected for his period-style and very dramatic interpretations of the works from the classical period. Today he combines his love for Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert with his passion for the romantic as well as contemporary repertoire. He loves to work with living composers but, during his studies with Ilya Musin in St Petersburg, he also developed a very strong connection with the Russian repertoire.
His teachers were Ed Spanjaard in The Hague, Mariss Jansons in Oslo and the legendary Ilya Musin in St. Petersburg. He was the assistant of Bernard Haitink, Gennady Rhozdestvensky and William Christie.
